What is Fire and What are its Different Classes

The oxidation of any material in a rapid form is called fire. The availability of the oxygen in the atmosphere and the fuel together generate a chemical reaction. This chemical reaction is called fire. Fire contains ignition and high-level temperature. We use fire in many ways but some times fire becomes risky and dangerous. When fire generation happens in an unorganized and uncontrollable form than it creates trouble for the lives and assets.

To deal with such type of sudden and unorganized fire we have many solutions and fire safety equipment. The work capacity and usage of this fire safety equipment depend on the classes of fire. Mainly five classes are popular for the fire, let's know those fire classes:
  • Fire class A: This is a general/ordinary compatible category of the fire class. Flammable materials are the main source of the ignition of the fire of this class such as paper, plastic, wood and other similar items. Class A fire is the most commonly visible fire in the rest of the accidental fire cases.
  • Fire class-B: Flammable liquids and gases are the main fuel objects for the class B fire. Petroleum-based liquids such as gasoline and Kerosene take part as fuel. The gases like butane and propane are the second object of this fire class.
  • Fire class-C: The fire in the electric component takes part in this specific fire class.
  • Fire class-D: Combustible metals such as aluminum, titanium, magnesium and more are used as fuel in this class of the fire.
  • Fire class-K: This fire is also known as cooking fire. Each hotel, restaurants, and other food services are using this particular fire class. The over ignition or uncontrollable condition of class K fire can create trouble for the food or cooking industries.
Some of the fire safety equipment is not effective in the fire due to electrical components. Many fire safety equipment is used for safety alarms but some of those effectively act precautionary steps. Fire safety equipment such as automatic sprinklers perform dual action they send fire alarm and mean time they also attempt to provide safety against the fire.

Be sure that you use the right fire safety equipment for the particular fire type.
